I've gone online in two of my Powernaut personae to publicize this
comic. They are quite proud of this one. In the words of Powernaut
1941 ("Principal Powernaut"):

"Every nation has a right to pride. But some things are more important
than nations. Freedom to wander the streets without being threatened by
strangers, for instance. I gather this story might apply to the modern
age."

This week, French ultra-nationalism vs ... Amy.

The soldiers presented a pathetic but inspiring spectacle. The
hospitals were crowded with sick and wounded; the walls were
gradually crumbling under incessant shell fire, yet that garrison
of heroes remained undaunted.

It was as Buck said, "just as if they had been Americans."
