[META] Ideas vs. Execution

It's an eternal debate: What is the value of ideas? What is the value of
taking ideas and making something out of them?

Howard Taylor of the webcomic Schlock Mercenary wrote in the comic's blog (
http://www.schlockmercenary.com/blog/index.php/2010/03/25/dont-ask-me-where-i-get-my-ideas/
) that he finds ideas utterly without value and the execution as having all
of the worth.

I *decidedly* disagree with this. At the same time, I've been in that
situation of having plently of ideas and doing very little with them, so I
certainly can't say the idea is the only important part, either.

I'd say that, in the big picture, concept and execution are equally
important. Something produced without a good idea behind it can only be a
hollow techincal work, and an idea that's never executed may as well not
exist.

What do you think?
