At first, it seemed like *all* the library employees were going to be
impediments to Ascot, setting up a "people who know and care about the
system teach the new broom what's what" plot.  Of course, the fact that
that was then flipped on its head made it all the more satisfying.

You know, I'd noticed that.  It seemed like, with your earlier Eightfold
series, you were groping around for something; and with Green Knight and
Jolt City, it seems like you've found it.
