Die neue, vollständige Version von NetzHack, der deutschen Übersetzung des Klassikers Nethack, ist jetzt da: http://www.netzhack.de/

Warum der Sprung von v0.2 auf v0.9? Weil es fertig ist!

Nur weil wir wissen, daß das Spiel unmöglich fehlerfrei sein kann, halten wir uns vor dem Prädikat "Version 1.0! zurück. Aber es ist jetzt alles da: sämtliche Befehle, Waffen, Zauberausrüstung und Levels in natürlicher deutscher Sprache. Und mit automatischer Installation auf Windows (grafisch oder in der DOS-Box), Debian und Ubuntu (auf der Console, im Terminalfenster oder grafisch). Heimwerker können das Spiel auf anderen Linux-Systemen und sogar auf dem Mac (im Terminal oder grafisch unter XQuartz) und anderen UNIX-Varianten einrichten.

Noch mehr: wir haben etliche beliebte Nethack-Patches ebenfalls übersetzt, angepaßt, und mit NetzHack getestet! Siehe http://www.netzhack.de/download/Patches/ für die reichhaltige Auswahl. 

Ja, wir haben noch ein paar kleine Aufgaben auf der Liste, aber es sind wirklich Kleinigkeiten. Bei bestimmten Selstmordmethoden hinkt ein Genitiv in der Grabsteininschrift zum Beispiel – aber im Ernst, sollen wir deswegen noch das zu 99,9% fertige Spiel zurückhalten? Bei allem Perfektiomisnus, nein!

The new, completed version of NetzHack, the German translation of the classic game Nethack, has been released! Get it at http://www.netzhack.de/

Why did we jack up the version number from v0.2 to v0.9? Because our translation work is now complete!

It's only well-placed modesty that keeps us from calling it "Version 1.0": we're well aware that the game can hardly be bug-free. But it's all there: all the commands, options, weapons, monsters, magical gear, and levels, in idiomatic German. And with fully automated installation on Windows (GUI or DOS-box), Debian and Ubuntu (on the Linux console, in a terminal window, or with an X11 graphic display). Compile-it-yourselfers can also play in German on other UNIX systems, and even on the Mac (in Terminal.app or with the graphic display under XQuartz).

Yes, we still have a few things on our to-do list, but they're minor. Certain kinds of suicide will leave a sloppy genitive on your tombstone, for example — but is that any reason why we should hold back a game that's 99.9% finished? We say, Nein!
