Hi everybody,

today I'm releasing Web Raid 1.2. As usual, you can download it at
http://webraid.freehosting.net/index.html .

About Version 1.2:
- Finally found a simple way for a global achievement / highscore
list. Now you can hit "sync with global server", and if you're the
first to have achieved something (that is level 19 or higher), you'll
see your achievement at the global rankings: http://webraid.atspace.com/
- unfortunately this doesn't work if you're behind a ftp proxy.
- New feature: Blocks. In levels that the game considers tough, you're
awarded a number of blocks - stones that you can drop and which will
block the path of the creatures that are after you (and yours as well,
so use with care).
- Improved creature intelligence: Some monsters' personality doesn't
allow them to stand still, so they rather move back and forth if they
don't have anything better to do. These were an easy target because
you could wait for them to move towards you and get the first hit. Now
those of them who are lv 15 and above will avoid this kind of cycle
behavior.
- Several minor bugfixes and enhancements (like a total playing time
being displayed)

About Web Raid:
Web Raid is a roguelike game: you wander through dungeons made up from
fantastic ASCII graphics, meet and fight fierce creatures, pick up
great weapons, armor and mystic amulet, and collect precious
treasures. Web Raid's focus is on strategy - you get a full overview
of a whole dungeon level, insight into the power and character of each
of the creatures, and you'll need that to survive. Web Raid's goal is
to survive long enough to pick up stuff and return it from the
dungeon, and to also to survive to tell about the creatures you've
slain.

The big difference to the roughly 2000 other roguelike games out there
is that, behind the scenes, everything that you encounter in Web Raid
corresponds to bits and pieces of web pages. Behind the scenes,
creature, armor, weapons, amulets and treasures are derived from words
- the longer and more complicated a word, the more spectacular the
creature or item. Web Raid features a dictionary of about 280.000
words, giving you 280.000 unique monsters and items to discover.

I hope you'll enjoy the game,
Karlheinz
