Well it's really Hodgsonian--the idols were influenced by images from 
Hosue on the Borderland, which naturally was one of HPL's favorite 
books, as was the whole time-lapse structure. William Hope Hodgson is 
one of my favorite early weird fiction writers; I know I've referenced 
the Electric Pentacle from his Carnacki stories at some point.

The answer is... I have no idea! Time travel is weird and Time Crapper 
related stuff is especially weird. I suspect they both existed in 
quantum superposition as the Time Crapper for a lot of their histories, 
as with the two Cats.

I'm glad you enjoyed it! I have been feeling extremely weird and fraught 
but at least I got a good issue out of it, lol.
