RACCIES/META: Tales of Personal Woe

Hokay. So you may be wondering why nothing at all has been posted on the
RACCies in, you know, a couple months. x.x Let me tell you my sad story...

So, as I alluded to in previous posts, my computer had been having
problems for a while, but they started getting really bad in late
January. I put up with it for a while, but eventually got the money
together to order a refurbished replacement tower. It arrived in a week!

...wait, no, the initial tracking estimate was wrong. It arrived in two
weeks! My old tower had finally given up the ghost, but after a bit of
copying files over, I was all set up and ready to get back on track!

...then it started randomly shutting off. First, it seemed like an
overheating problem, then an electrical problem. Then I flailed about
for a while, until one of my friends ended up helping me. (I would've
asked sooner, but I thought he was a software guy, not a hardware guy.)
After several different attempts to fix it, we decided it just needed to
be returned; thankfully, it was still under warranty. So he gave me his
old desktop. Though it was limited in its capacities, it was enough for
me to work with, and I was back on track!

...then THAT started randomly shutting off. After hours of work trying
to locate the problem, we decided that it'd be more trouble to fix than
it was worth, and he took the tower back. We weren't sure what to do
next, but thankfully, at the eleventh hour, it turned out his *partner*
had a laptop they were willing to part with. So that's what I'm on now,
and after the last few days, it doesn't seem like it's going to start
randomly crashing. Cross your fingers and knock on wood.

So, to be honest, at this point, I'm just going to reset the clock on
the RACCies. I'll get another nomination ballot out soon, with updated
dates. Sorry about the delay. @-@
