There will be a lot more on Rainshade in the MANCERS ongoing-- first four issues are written, but I'm waiting until I finish the next few before I post any-- and with it, more reasons not to like her, but also some reasons to like her as well? It won't take away from any of the things she does in that series, or here, or in last year's DARKHORSE mini, but there will (eventually) be some context and empathy (whether she deserves it or not).

Like Ress in ORPHANS OF MARS, she's fun to write but I wouldn't want to spend any time with her in person.

Touching on magic, manipulation, and defenses-- Rainshade is a metamancer, which means she "borrows" and freely uses the magic of others. Which in a pure "who'd win" kind of situation against another magic-user, she'd have a clear edge... unless that magic-user also drew on technology (such as a sophisticated AI)... :-)
