GODLING # 51 Back in Action by J. Vandersteen

- GODLING - THE ONE MAN PANTHEON: Back in Action

An arrow flies through the air. It hits a moving snowman, the arrow tip explodes when it hits the snowman's head, snow flying everywhere.
Standing in the middle of a group of snowmen is Godling, nocking a new arrow on a fancy and futuristic looking bow. "I'm coming for you, King Winter! No use hiding behind your snowgolems."
Godling shoots another arrow, destroying another snowman. He kicks a snowman behind him and smashes another one to pieces using his arrow as a club. He shoots two arrows more and with two more snowmen destroyed the One Man Pantheon stands victorious in a pile of snow.
"Nice toy you have there," says King Winter, now revealed with the snowmen that were in front of him destroyed.
Godling nocks another arrow.. "I've got the engineering powers of Hephaestus to thank for that. I figured I could use an extra edge capturing the escaped prisoners."
The hero fires his arrow. King Winter creates a shield of ice. The arrow destroys it, but it shields King Winter from the impact so it doesn't hurt him.
"I've got some arrows of my own," the villain says and throws some icicles shaped as arrows at our hero. Godling deflects the icicles with his bow, knocking them away from him.
Godling runs towards King Winter, jumps up and executes a spin kick. Winter encases his body in ice, protecting him from the kick. Godling throws a fireball, channelling the powers of Hephaestus, melting the ice. He follows up with a roundhouse punch, knocking the villain down.
"Another one bites the... snow," Godliing says and picks King Winter up, slinging him over his shoulder.
He flies off toward Tartarus II.

"Well, seems Godling is back in action again," Wade Hudson tells another cop while they load a cuffed criminal in their car as they see the One Man Pantheon fly by.
"Yeah, looks like California wasn't his thing after all," the other cop says.
"I'm still not sure that was the same guy. I'm just shocked I think I am happy he's back again. I always figured that guy caused more trouble than he solved. It's good to see guys like King Winter get locked up again though."

Dober-Girl is in an alley in Lower Troy. She is surrounded by four thugs, armed with knives, chains and bats.
"You dealt your last drugs in this neighbourhood, bastards!" Dober-Girl says.
"You don't like the one who's winning this fight," a thug says.
"Look again," a voice says. Two booted feet land on the thug's head. The thug goes down, the voice revealed to belong to Godling.
"Godling? Thanks. I don't really need your help though," Dober-Girl says and punches a thug so hard his teeth fly out of his mouth. Another one is kicked between the legs as she deflects his bat with crossed arms.
"Impressive moves," Godling says and knocks down the last thug with a punch backed by the strength of Heracles.
"Thanks. Yours ain't too shabby either," Dober-Girl says. "What brings you to my neighbourhood. Usually you hang out in Upper Troy."
"I heard you did a good job protecting the city during my abcense. I wanted to thank you for that."
"No need. Somebody had to take up the slack. Why the move to Cali though? And why did you return?"
Godling smiles "Let's just say I wasn't myself for a few weeks and leave it at that." With those words he flies off.

"Hi!" Monica says, beaming at the sight of Quentin Alexander as she opens the door.
"Hi Monica. I figured it would be a good idea to see you again. Show you I'm feeling better," Quentin says.
"Guess you are right about that. Good to see you, come in."
Quentin enters. Monica offers him a seat. "Whiskey?"
"No, a Coke is fine," Quentin answers.
Monica smiles. "That sounds like the Quentin I know and love."

New Troy Airport. A good-looking woman leaves the plane. It's Bonnie Colter. She thinks, "Well here I am... Since you're here again I figured I'd better follow the story. And the story is you, Godling..."
