The Oddballs are one of those concepts that really shouldn't work but somehow do--a parody of something that's already a parody! It's a testament to how much complexity and depth the LNH has. Also how much fun Crosstime Caper-style dimension hopping storylines are. (Young Avengers v2 is an updated version of that...)

In UM's case, it was also used to highlight how much he'd developed from his original character concept.
