Sorry, I'm still bowed out.  I can only think of one time I've ever come 
close to that trope (in my own universe*) - and it was to retrieve a 
character from the land of Dreams, not the land of Death.  I can't even 
think of someone I *would* bring back from the dead.  I figure that 
keeping my dead characters dead makes my fiction unique.  :)

(* Of course, there's that LNH story I wrote, "Don't Stay Dead".)
