                          Chapter 6: The Skates

Alice decided to check out the inside of the school... but the doors
wouldn't open. She decided to look around the rest of the area... but
ran into invisible walls, keeping her from going anywhere outside the
playground.

Realizing that there really wasn't much to do, she went back to the
door and inside the structure. At least she could test out the energy
skates, right?

Leaning on a wall, she summoned a energy skate under one of her feet.
She attempted to summon the other one, but when she lifted the foot she
was standing on, the other foot started to slide away. Attempting to get
her balance back, she put the foot she lifted down. She nearly fell
over, but managed to catch herself on the wall she was leaning on.

Then she remembered she had a tail, and realised it could help her
balance. Feeling silly, she tried to summon the other skate again. This
time, she kept her balance - barely.

I made a mistake, thought Alice as she tried to move around. I should
have wished for a magic bike. Or broom. Hell. I should have wished for a
dragon! Noooooo, energy skates are more awesome! Where did I even get
the idea for skates? Alice thought about other stuff, too, but it was
mostly about being angry about the skates.

Eventually, she managed to get comfortable with moving around slowly
on the energy skates. Okay, good. Time to work on speed!

After a while, she managed to zip around on the energy skates without
slamming into walls. She was so happy she didn't even notice she'd gone
into the hallway - at first. Then she heard something growl.

It was another monster, this one huger and more beastly than the
others. It took up almost the entire hallway. Its long, sharp fangs
looked as if they could tear through a tank like wet paper. Its claws
could easily have been mistaken for knives. It had no eyes, nor nose. It
only had a mouth, so gigantic that it could probably swallow a small
vehicle.

The colossal beast leaped at Alice. She just barely managed to dodge
it, but didn't come away unscathed.

"AHHHHHH! FUCK!" shouted Alice. "Shit! That really hurt! ...aaaangh..."

She didn't have much time to suffer, though, as the hulking monster
managed to turn around despite its enormous size. Alice desummoned the
energy skates and ran along the wall, frantically putting together a
plan that she hoped would work.

As the beast leaped at her again, she jumped almost to the ceiling,
resummoned her energy skates, pushed off the ceiling, and slammed down
on the giant beast's head. She had decapitated it...

...and then it turned around it revealed that it had a second head!

With no time for a plan, Alice kicked the roaring beast and took off a
chunk of its upper jaw. The gigantic beast reeled back and roared out in
pain. Seizing the opportunity, Alice kicked it in the throat, tearing up
its throat and chest. The beast fell to its knees and dissipated into
nothingness.

Alice took a breath of relief, then looked around in case of any other
monsters. She checked herself over, but she didn't appear to be bleeding
or wounded or anything.

   Carefully, she moved on.
