Oh, that was cleverly done, sir.

I've often said that the reason mankind invented time was so that we have points of reference-- that on, say, Christmas, we can look at where we are now, and where we were last Christmas, and so on. The same for birthdays, anniversaries, and other celebrations. It's nice to see a story that embraces that quality as its formal conceit-- very clever, and as I said, very cleverly done. I wish I had thought of that.
