Well, this chapter is titled "The Tides of War". So you must have figured they'd be off to sea at some point, especially after the kidnappers went to the seaport of Ishmael. So now Chevalier and Tom-Tom will have to sail after them and catch them before they take the princess to some far off land.

So, hopefully without spoiling anything, figure Chevalier and Tom-Tom having to go against a boat full of kidnappers, cut throats, and pirates in order to save the princess.

And Captain Annie is kinda cute. LOL. Though she does look a little like some kind of mouse pirate like you said. Mouse pirates? Hmmm.
