Ah, so you haven't read up to date.

Okay. The reason Abbeline went to see The Gripper/Connor Nichols was
because he ran out of ingredients that he uses to make a formula that
pacifies Donny' murderous nature. Nichols provides all manner of
"exotic" herbs, roots, chemicals, and drugs that Abbeline uses to make
his formulation. He only had one complete vial of it left and he brought
it with him. In the last panel he just remembered that he had it.
