I'm still not anywhere near caught up with this series (I am still in
the middle of Leadership Crisis as far as LNH stuff goes... yep, I'm
reading the 15th anniversary story, just in time for the 20th
anniversary!) but I love what I've read of it so far. Pastiching
Fletcher Hanks is really hard. That Image Comics issue with Stardust
was terrible: It completely misinterpreted the character, establishing
him as this nostalgic icon and ignoring all the bizarre, unnerving
aspects of the character. And worst of all it was just boring. You can
say a whole lot of awful things about Fletcher Hanks, but not that he
was boring. But this really does capture all the wild creativity as
well as the skewed morality of Fletcher Hanks' work. Well done.
