Chinese dynasties usually took two or three hundred years to go
through a cycle. Even looking at the shorter cycles, we're about due
for something like World War 2. The world has largely forgotten how
bad things were at the time. So yeah, even in the Real World I think
we're in for some rough times, right around 2026 when (for instance)
the snow cap melts off the Himalayas and everyplace from China to
Pakistan wonders where their rivers went.
