META: Dialect or Not?

I agree with Dave.

Spelling out dialect tends to look like you're making fun of the
character/person, and would look doubly so in the kind of story (that
is, a fictional newspaper/tabloid article) that you're writing.  Like
Dave said, the odd grammar and turns-of-phrase that you get with
regional/dialectual should be enough to give the character the
authentic flavour you want without making it difficult for the reader.
