in the period he was used most.  But in the very first few appearances, 
he'd die, and then later he'd just be around again, like Kenny, no 
explanation given.

Also, in Dave's origin story, he was able to come back instantly.  (At 
least when he joined the LNH.)

Not saying I'm not changing anything, just pointing to where I got the 
idea from :-)

Yeah, which was the intention. :-) (Not necessarily the "useful in a 
fight" part, but the "not just a gag character" definitely.)
