Previously, in Haiku Gorilla:

Haiku Gorilla has triumphed once more over his
archnemesis, Briefcase-Eater Lad, this time winning a
seat in the Senate.  He moves to Washington with his
mate, a female gorilla he was reluctantly paired with
at the Chomsky Institute.

He says good-bye to his first and most passionate
love, the human scientist Jane.  Little does he know
that President Hexadecimal Luthor has kidnapped Jane's
husband, Gore-- and that Hex also claims to have in
his clutches the son Haiku Gorilla never knew he had.
