[RACCies] 2006 (13th Annual) RACCies Awards

The 2006 (13th Annual) RACCies Awards
General comments: There were seven people voting in this election
(compare with the Hall Of Fame vote of five). There were, as usual, a
number of cases where people abstained from voting in a particular
category for one reason or another.
Tom pointed out that for RACC9: Favourite New Character neither
Wiki Boy nor Pants Rabbit Lad should have been included since they
appeared in 2005 and 1997 respectively. This mildly complicates
matters since Wiki Boy would otherwise have been the winner with
23 points, which we will now have to ignore.

But first up, the new RACCies administrator until such time as he gets
tired of running it is:
   Arthur SPITZER  {26 points}

DISCRETIONARY AWARDS:

`THE CRAPPING ON GARTH ENNIS FROM A GREAT HEIGHT' Award to
Tom Russell, for being the most vocal proponent of the idea that
superheroes should act like heroes.

`THE STAN BRAKHAGE AWARD FOR SHEER WHAT-THE--?NESS' to
Arthur Spitzer, for some of his more... surreal stories.

`THE AUSTRALIAN AWARENESS AWARD' to Mitchell Crouch, for
the deft presentation of Australian culture (and toiletry) in
Alt.stralian Yarns.

`A BOX OF KLEENEX' to Martin Phipps, because he always
seems to have "tissue at the ready", presumably finding the stories
on RACC to be tear-jerkers.

`THE CRUNCHY PULP ADVENTURE GOODNESS' golden cereal bowl to
Jochem Vandersteen for his ability to consistently surprise and
entertain with the Godling series.

`THE MARCEL PROUST AWARD' given jointly to Dave Van Domelen,
for the mammoth sentences that comprise his action scenes, and to
Saxon Brenton, for his own occasionally labyrinthine sentences.
