My name is Jason Righteous, and I'm the one who
betrayed the Nostalgics. But you know that already,
don't you? What you want to know is how and why. I
can help you with the first part. The why of it I'm
not so sure of.
And that's why I've come here to confess, that's
why I've turned myself in. Not because I want to save
my neck. Not because I'm feeling guilty, though I
guess I do in an odd way. No, I'm confessing because
I want someone to tell me why I did it.
I want someone to tell me why I killed my friend.

EIGHT ISSUES. FOUR HEROES. ONE DEATH.
WHO WILL DIE, AND WHY DID IT HAVE TO HAPPEN?
THE MYSTERY STARTS THIS MAY, AND YOU CAN
BET YOUR BOTTOM DOLLAR IT'S FROM EIGHTFOLD!

***CONTEST CONTEST CONTEST***

Everyone knows that "Pantless" Tom Russell is just
nuts about superheroes, and that even his serious work
is occassionally peppered with little jokes for the
hardcore superhero enthusiast. For example, back in
SPEAK!, we heard the story of a hero who went by the
name Two-in-One; Ray Cradle was told when he was
diagnosed with cancer that it was not a hoax or an
imaginary story. Little touches like that, which,
depending on your viewpoint,

(a) completely takes the reader out of the story,

(b) rewards the reader who is familiar with the
reference and uses their emotional attachments to the
same in order to achieve the desired effect, or

(c) doesn't really matter because you don't get the
reference anyway.

At any rate, Tom's at it again, this time with a
subtle Superman reference in THE NOSTALGICS # 1. It's
not as blatant as "up, up, and away" or "great Rao" or
even "by the cigar of Ar-Rone!" At the same time,
it's a classic line that's always reinforced the
underlying tragedy that helps transform Clark Kent
into the Man of Steel.
So, when THE NOSTALGICS # 1 hits RACC in May, read
it twice. Read it the first time to enjoy it--
because I think you will enjoy it. The same complex
character work and moral ambiguity that made Gregory
Dingham the Favourite Character of 2005 comes into
play here, as we meet a character we think you'll find
just a bit... different! And no, no prize for
spotting the Spidey reference in the last sentence.
Prizes? you say. There are prizes? You didn't say
anything about prizes! Tell me more!
After you've read THE NOSTALGICS # 1 the first
time, go over it again and see if you can find this
classic Superman reference. Once you've got it, post
a reply in the very same thread, quoting the relevant
sentence; this is how you lay claim to your prize!
The first person to post the correct answer on RACC
will recieve a PERSONALLY AUTOGRAPHED copy of my
full-length motion picture, MILOS, LIFE AND TIMES OF A
DREAMER, absolutely FREE! This DVD is value-packed
with DELETED SCENES, CAST INTERVIEWS, and a special
bonus SHORT FILM. Not to mention, of course, the
eighty-minute full-colour live-action motion picture
itself!
This is a REGION 1 DVD, burned on DVD+R format,
which is compatible with roughly 89 % of DVD players.
Anyone is able to enter, but you only get one shot:
once you've posted your reply, that's it. If you're
wrong, you're wrong. Remember to only quote the
relevant lines-- don't quote the whole story or chunks
of it wholesale in the hopes that within one will find
the answer. :-P
   Good luck, and have fun!
The contest-- and THE NOSTALGICS-- starts this MAY!
   Huzzah!

"If a comic book, book, movie or novel is not somebody's fantasy
then who wrote it and to whom does it appeal to? In order for a
shared universe to have a widespread appeal, it has to appeal on
a primal level. If somebody says superhero comics are just 'wish
fulfillment' then he needs to explain what is entertainment that
doesn't satisfy our wishes and what satisfaction at all you can get
from it." -- Dr. Martin Phipps
