I don't think it was so much the burying as the not deleting.  :)

Personally, I don't really care that much for that sort of comment whether
someone top-posts or bottom-posts, but it's good to trim things down a
little rather than quoting the whole thing, particularly when it's long.
(There weren't any quote marks either, which I found a bit confusing.)
