My reading of RFC 2822 is that an <id-right> (which might well look like a
<domain>, but actually is just the sequences of characters you can get by
expanding dot-atom-text or no-fold-literal) is not case-insensitive.
Bruce Lilly disagrees, and I have had endless arguments with him about
this (I am right, of course :-) ). Note that in RFC 822 the RHS of a
Message-ID was indeed case-insensitive, and my claim was that RFC 2822 had
fixed that unfortunate state of affairs.
Sadly, it had not fixed the problems with quoted-strings and quoted-pairs.
