Hello folks,

The replacement standard for the aging RFC 977 (the NNTP protocol) is now
in its two-week internal working group last call period. You can see the
current version at:

    <http://www.davros.org/nntp-texts/draft21.txt>
    <http://www.davros.org/nntp-texts/draft21.html>

and shortly to be published in the standard Internet Draft locations as
draft-ietf-nntpext-base-21.txt.

I strongly encourage any client or server authors to read over the draft
and send any comments. You can join the working group mailing list by
going to:

    <https://www.academ.com/mailman/listinfo/ietf-nntp>

if you're not already subscribed, or you can post to news.software.nntp
and I'll summarize for the working group.

This is the first of two last call periods. After this two week period,
this draft will be forwarded to the IETF for a general last call, after
which it will (hopefully, barring any necessary additional changes) go to
the RFC Editor for publication as a standards-track RFC.

Thank you *very* much to Clive Feather for his patient and excellent work
as the document editor. There's no way that this draft would be ready
without his work.
