I thought it would be potentially useful for clients. It's no big deal, and
with the more generic handling of capabilities I no longer think it's worth
having.
As to putting VERSION in the initial line of the response, there's one
problem. If a server supports two compatible versions of NNTP (let's say 2
and 3) then the capability line is:
VERSION 2 3
You can't have a variable number of arguments on an initial response line.
So which one do you have there?
