I think calling it pipelining is a bit misleading.  Pipelining in the
context of network protocols refers specifically to the practice of
sending one command before waiting for the response to a previous command,
and is already addressed in the base NNTP document.  This isn't just
pipelining; it's a completely different protocol for sending messages.
One side effect of it is that the MODE STREAM commands can be pipelined
whereas IHAVE cannot, but it still seems like a different sort of beast to
me.
