ietf-nntp Should a survey be done?

While Stan has said that he plans new drafts of the NNTP documents
shortly, there are two major issues which I don't think there is
a consensus on:
1. Should there be separate transport and reader standards?
2. Should the X commands be renamed?

Would it be desirable to have a survey to get a more accurate feeling
of how the list feels about these two issues?
