the virtual services offered by an ISP similiar to mail or http so that if I
connect to news.virtualhost.com - I would only see the newsgroups that are being
hosted by virtualhost.com (versus every newsgroup being hosted by the
ISP).</FONT></DIV>

of virtually hosting:</FONT></DIV>

<DIV><FONT face=Arial size=2>HTTP - via a header field</FONT></DIV>

ISP to host virtual newsgroups will keep and probably increase the popularity of
UseNet. </FONT></DIV>

<DIV><FONT face=Arial size=2>It could be accomplished either by a new
command (X-Server or Server) or extending the Mode Reader command to "MODE
READER [news servername]". The hosting software would then acknolwedge the
command and restrict the visibility (in List/Group/Post/etc commands) to only
those newsgroups setup for that server name in some configuration
file.</FONT></DIV>
